Large Groups, Pregnancy, Infants & Children

Situations that can be perceived as a challenge for some photographers are handled skillfully and beautifully at Jon Wolf Photography of Tucson, Arizona.

Let’s start with family portraits. A “family” can be defined in many ways, but for the sake of argument, let’s consider the large family portrait. We’re talking 10, 20, 40 people and more. Who can handle such a task and still make every person present feel extraordinary? Trust Jon Wolf Photography.

Photographers Jon Wolf and his wife Gisele Wolf are gifted in positioning members of a large family in such a way that a stranger could distinguish who belongs to whom.  The relationships are apparent and if you have a loving family it will show in your portrait. How do they do it? It starts with a fun hour-long planning session where Jon and Gisele ask you many questions so they can learn about your family and your feeling for each other.  They take the time to get to know you in a way that enables them to create a portrait that will touch your heart.

It continues with expert lighting, subtle styling suggestions and thoughtful posing. Clients of Jon Wolf Photography continually rave about the beautiful art that Jon and Gisele create.

Large groups are one challenge for photographers made easy by the artists at Jon Wolf Photography but what about the small, and the very small in your life? Consider the wonder of new life, the glow of the expectant mother, the love you feel for your child growing inside of you. A Jon Wolf Photography pregnancy portrait radiantly captures the anticipation of your new addition and the overwhelming love you already feel for your unborn child. Always tasteful and forever cherished… a Jon Wolf Photography portrait will be a treasured heirloom to be passed on to your child.

In the blink of an eye your tiny, sleepy newborn is a cooing baby and then an earnest explorer toddling toward childhood. Each step is meaningful so don’t let time slip by without artistically capturing portraits of your child as he or she grows and changes.  A charming, emotional Jon Wolf Photography   portrait of the baby you love today will be a prize for your entire family, something your baby will want to share with his or her children years from now.  Jon Wolf Photography encourages infant portraiture starting when your child is about three months old.

Every time you look at your youngster you think, “How remarkable!”  Kids continually produce expressions that touch your heart and Jon and Gisele are masters at eliciting and capturing your favorite expressions in timeless portrait art.  Their philosophy is simple: kids are cool people.  Jon and Gisele are wonderful parents to two lovely daughters and know how to engage and entertain kids of all ages while creating beautiful personal art. Children love them and with their ability to put a child at ease they are able to create an honest and heartfelt heirloom art piece, the perfect finishing touch to any décor.

“Shouldn’t YOU have a Jon Wolf in YOUR home?”

When having portraits created consider what Jon Wolf Photography, one of the most renowned studios in the country, suggests to look your best:

Your Face:
For women makeup should be darker than you’d normally wear during the day; formal evening makeup (darker eyes, cheeks, lips) will photograph best.  (Please trust us on this!)
For men: a clean-shaven, freshly washed face eliminates shine.  If you have a beard or mustache, ensure it looks as you wish it to look.

Hair:
Make sure you love your hair the day of your session.  Some people prefer their hair the day it is cut; others prefer their hair two weeks later.  Jon Wolf Photography reminds you that you want to love your portrait years later so this may not be a day to try a new hairstyle.

Glasses:
Eyeglasses can create a distracting glare. If you have an anti-reflective coating on your lenses, great! If not, and you choose to wear your glasses, pop out the lenses for the session by loosening the frame with a small screwdriver.  Jon Wolf Photography can assist with this at your session, please ask.  If your glasses are not coated and are not full framed you may borrow a similar pair of frames from your optometrist or take your glasses off for your portrait.

Clothing:
Your portrait should reflect how you see yourself.  Do not let a photographer dictate what to where.  Consider whether you wish to be portrayed in casual clothing or dressy.  Jon Wolf Photography can guide you as to how to choose flattering colors and styles.  Remember that your clothes when photographed should not stand out but should quietly flatter you.  Choose long or three-quarter length sleeves.  Darker colors will flatter most people best.  Choose solid colors or non-contrasting patterns rather than busy patterns.

It is important that you choose something that has long or three-quarter length sleeves.  Darker colors will flatter you best and choose solids rather than patterns.

If you are in doubt as to what to wear, bring your favorite outfit along with two or three extras and your photographer will help you choose.  Your clothes should be freshly pressed on hangers so they don’t get wrinkled on the way to the studio.  Jon Wolf Photography provides you a private, brightly lit dressing room so you can change in comfort when you get here.

Posing:
Once the hair, the makeup and the clothing are decided, your work is done. Now you get to be a star! Relax and let your photographer guide you into natural postures. At Jon Wolf Photography our careful planning of your session has prepared us for your session. Your finest features and moods will be portrayed and captured.  You will be at ease and your natural beauty will show in your portrait.

Lighting:
Your photographer should be a master at providing flattering lighting for your portrait. Jon Wolf Photography lights their clients flatteringly with a light that mimics the windows of the old world master painters.  On location sessions we seek out and find lighting that will perfectly compliment you as well as the chosen scene.

The Result:
Relax. Have fun! Jon Wolf’s quick wit and easy manner puts everyone at ease.  At Jon Wolf Photography we point out that it is not the face that is photographed but your feelings inside as they are reflected on your face.  You will feel warm and comfortable during your session and that will show on your faces. This is Jon Wolf’s art.
